Q&A: Secrets of a Spokane Valley Lash Artist

Get to know your lash artist- Q&A with Kristen Meithof, Spokane Valley Lash Artist

What’s the best part of your job as a lash artist?

When my clients first open their eyes after a full set—even after a fill. Like beautiful little babies. I love the texts of thank you from clients saying they’re getting so many compliments.

You are a licensed cosmotologist, specialized in hair for a number of years. Why the jump from hair to lashes?

Lashes came after my wedding. I got my first set and fell in love with them. Then after my son was born I realized it would be a great way to have more flexibility.

You have been a lash artist for almost two years now—What surprised you about becoming a Lash Artist?

How much my back hurts! HA. But really. That’s why I have days off between. I work at the salon doing hair in between to give my body something different. But I also was surprised at how much of a passion I had for it. I have a passion for lashin. Hahaha! It actually gives me endorphins. It’s so much fun.

What was training to become a lash artist like?

Training is hard. It’s hard. Anyone can do it, but doing it right is hard and takes focus and practice. And when lashes are wrong they look wrooong. Glue can gob and lashes can clump. It’s really easy to see it when it’s wrong.

Whats the “art” involved in being a lash artist?

Custom for every eye shape, lash type, face. It’s a mix of my client’s dreams and my expertise. It’s a fun collab. Eye shape is something i’m conscious of and their natural lash shape as well. I’ll customize the type of lash curl to fit the client. I primarily use 7 different curl types.

This was actually surprisingly educational, Thank you Kristen. I’m your sister and I didn’t know…any of this. I’m putting it on the website.

Thanks for your help on the website sis. You’re a peach.

I’m including that in the post.

Please don’t.
